FAQ
What sets Uncle Ernie's Effects apart from the crowd? We wanted to found a
company that pedals built and designed by Musicians and Technicians that
reflect what musicians really need from a pedal. These designs have been
tested rigorously by players outside UEE and then improved based on they're
thoughts and ideas. These musicians range from self taught to collage grads
in music, from famous players to techs who build rigs for these top players.
One thing that all the testers have in common is they are all veterans in our
field.
We also don't make ten different distortions that are the same basic thing
repackaged with changed tone caps and another name. Right now we have a
hard clipping distortion and a soft clipping overdrive. This makes for a very
focused product line designed for function and tone with minimal or no excess
noise, just tone! We will have a Fuzz in the future as this is the third true
design difference.
How are they made and from what? Uncle Ernie's Pedals are hand
assembled, hand wired, hand tested, etc... They are made from the highest
quality parts available and are warranted for 5 (FIVE) years from date of
purchase. They can also be personally tweaked or fully customized if need
be. They can even have your name on them if you like! Check out the
FrankenDriver for a pictorial on the build process.
Which distortion is right for me? This is really a personal thing but in general
here's the low down. All these pedals are designed for Tube Amps but they
sound good in front of solid-state as well.
OverDriver: Soft clipping Over Drive with a mid hump, has tone control. This
pedal does change your tone and this is inherit to the design.
LiveDriver: Hard clipping Distortion with no tonal coloration. Of course the
Boost has a Bright feature like a Treble Booster.
BassDriver: Although built for Bass it actually is a flat response soft clipping
Distortion for Guitar. It's basically a clean Boost in parallel with a very minimal
Over Drive. For Bass, the distortion side has the bass rolled off so the lows
are still clear and the highs have sustain and drive. It's truly original.
How's the customer service? We are very much a micro company and as
such when you contact us you'll likely be talking to Tim Wagoner ,a.k.a. Uncle
Ernie, personally.
Why doesn't UEE have lots of pedals in stock? We don't simply because
almost half the pedals that go out have been modified. Being hand
assembled makes mods easier but also means they can't be built up. When
we say micro we mean MICRO!
